[MUSIC PLAYING] You are expecting to welcome a beautiful new child into this world, congratulations. The decision of where to begin this grand adventure is an important one. At New Ulm Medical Center's Birth Center, our team of board-certified OB/GYNs, family medicine physicians who perform obstetrics, pediatricians, and an experienced team of nurses offer expert, personalized care throughout your journey.

New Ulm Medical Center consistently ranks in the top 20 in the nation among small hospitals from the National Rural Health Association. Your childbirth experience begins by working with one of our board-certified obstetricians, or family medicine physicians who provide obstetrics. We will partner with you closely to help fulfill your childbirth vision. Your provider and his or her team will build a close, receptive relationship with you through regular clinic checkups in the months leading up to your delivery.

Our free prenatal classes are led by nursing staff who are trained to guide you through every aspect of preparation for your delivery, and are equipped to answer all your questions. Class topics include labor and delivery options available to you, relaxation, breathing and comfort techniques, the role of your spouse, partner, or labor companion, use and choice of medications and medical procedures, cesarean birth, your recovery and hospital stay, and more.

When the big day arrives, our team will be ready to help you bring your little one into the world. Our beautiful birth center includes large, private, secure suites furnished not only with the equipment necessary to provide a safe delivery, but the amenities to help you and your family feel comfortable. The family-friendly suites include a sleeper sofa for Mom's support person, a large screen television, free Wi-Fi, a full bathroom with tub, a microwave, mini refrigerator, and the option to order from our full service menu.

To help you feel comfortable all the way through your birthing experience, we offer massage therapy, aroma therapy, acupuncture, and acupressure. An OB/GYN is on call 24/7 to respond to any postpartum issues quickly when necessary.

Per the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics, our staff is ready to support and encourage uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact for the first hours immediately after birth, which has been proven to have many benefits for both mother and child. Our lactation nurses are also on hand to help you through those important first breastfeeding sessions.

Your baby is in good hands immediately after their birth with a pediatric provider on call 24/7 to address any issues. New Ulm Medical Center also partners with children's hospitals and clinics of Minnesota to ensure excellent care for those babies who may have additional needs.

When it's time to go home, you will feel confident that you have all the resources of New Ulm Medical Center available, should you need to contact us with any questions or concerns. Follow-ups with your delivery provider for Mom and pediatric provider for Baby are scheduled for you before you leave. Lactation follow-up appointments are available to help you through any nursing questions or concerns once you go home.

We understand the specific needs and questions that you have as a new or expecting parent. We also encourage you to participate in decisions about your pregnancy care, and are committed to open communication to help you make those decisions.
