[Allina Newsroom, April 23, 2010]   Working as a character designer and concept artist, Chris Ayers, 35, has been involved in projects such as Men In Black II, Fantastic Four, and The Santa Clause 2. In addition, he has published two books, “The Daily Zoo: Keeping the Doctor at Bay with a Drawing a Day.” Ayers lives in Los Angeles and works in the movie industry there, but he’s from Minneapolis and still has family here.

[Allina News, April 16, 2010]   A celebration featuring artists and 350 works of art will open the International Art Show by Artists with Disabilities Thursday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is public and free and will be held at Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, 800 East 28th Street in Minneapolis. The Art Show is free and runs through May 21, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

In addition, Buffalo Hospital is one of 23 hospitals among the 100 winners to be recognized as an Everest Award winner for the greatest rate of improvement over a five-year period.

[Allina Newsroom, February 10, 2010]   Allina Hospitals & Clinics’ United Hospital has once again earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ for health care quality. The Joint Commission, a national hospital accreditation agency, awarded United Hospital the Certification of Distinction for its Inpatient Diabetes care Inpatient Diabetes, one of only two hospitals in Minnesota to win such certification.

Allina Medical Clinic-Ramsey pediatrician Dr. Eric Barth was interviewed this afternoon by KMSP Fox 9 for a report on childhood obesity set to air tonight during the 9 p.m. newscast.

Blue Distinction recognizes medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality healthcare in the areas of bariatric surgery, cardiac care, complex and rare cancers, knee and hip replacement, spine surgery and transplants.

[Allina Newsroom, January 01, 2010]   Metro Twin Cities 2010 first baby honors go to Allina's Unity Hospital and parents Danielle Miley and Scott Carpentier. Danielle gave birth to daughter MaKenzie (7 pounds, 20.5 inches) at 12:12 Friday morning.

[Allina Newsroom, December 23, 2009]   Allina Hospitals & Clinic's Virginia Piper Cancer Institute (VPCI) Radiation Oncology Clinic at Abbott Northwestern Hospital has completed installation of the Trilogy Linear Accelerator with RapidArc™, a fast, precise form of radiation therapy treatment using advanced technology. This will be the second Trilogy Linear Accelerator at VPCI’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital location.
