And some Steele County employees are joining in thanks to a grant the county received from Allina’s “ Neighborhood Health Connections ” program.

[Owatonna People's Press, September 28, 2012]   Wilson Elementary School, Owatonna, is one of 10 elementary schools in Minnesota and western Wisconsin communities chosen to participate in a novel partnership with Allina Health . Wilson Elementary School has been selected as a School Health Connection site for the 2012–13 school year, which includes a $10,000 grant to promote healthy activities.

The county received a $2,500 grant from Neighborhood Health Connection, which supports wellness and promotes healthy lifestyles one neighborhood at a time.

[Owatonna People's Press, August 23, 2012]   Residents of Owatonna are being encouraged to turn off their television set and go visit the city’s parks during the waning days of summer and the first days of autumn. The Owatonna Park Passport Program is a four-week long program in the month of September that is designed to get families out into the parks and hike the trails while searching for clues.
