Allina Health is halfway through a three-and-half-year project to truly transform Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and the former Unity Hospital in Fridley into “one hospital, two campuses.”
At the beginning of 2017, the two hospitals, 9 miles apart, officially merged and began operating under one license. Unity Hospital is now known as Mercy Hospital - Unity Campus .

For the past 50 years, two Allina Health hospitals – Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and Unity Hospital in Fridley – have collaborated on many services for patients in the North Metro. That collaboration has resulted in enhanced care for the north metro communities and has set the stage for a new era for the two hospitals.

In honor of the largest gift ever made to the Foundation, Jim and Pam Deal will be recognized as special friends of Mercy Hospital , foundation officials said.

The path has been cleared for the trauma center at Mercy Hospital to get official state designation as a Level Two Trauma Center this month. "The Level Two accreditation means that the emergency department and other areas of Mercy are capable of caring for complex trauma patients," said Tom O'Connor, president of Mercy Hospital.
