[COON RAPIDS HERALD, July 23, 2011] For the Sexual Assault Action Team of Anoka County, part of prevention is fighting the mentality that the victim is partially responsible.

A recent New York Times article sparked controversy about this issue in Cleveland, Texas, with its description of a sexual assault victim. Readers complained that the stories implied that she contributed to the assault.

Manager of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program at Unity Hospital Karine Zakroczymski said many feel the victim is partially to blame depending on if the assault is from a stranger or an individual the victim knows.
