Treatments

Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute offers a full range of treatments for both routine and rare vascular conditions.

Diagnostics

Vascular patients at Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute also benefit from state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and physicians who specialize in imaging and diagnostic techniques. These include non-invasive ultrasound testing, CT angiography, MR angiography and conventional angiography.

Vascular lab

Our Vascular lab provides diagnostic ultrasound testing for blockage, narrowing and other disorders of the arteries and veins in the neck, arms, legs and abdomen. These narrowed or blocked vessels can be the cause of strokes, leg pain, swelling or ulcers of the legs. The physician uses the information to treat the cause of symptoms and aims to prevent more serious consequences of vascular disorders. These tests are non-invasive and cause little, if any discomfort.

  • Abdominal aortic ultrasound
  • Carotid artery ultrasound
  • Peripheral arterial evaluation
  • Peripheral venous evaluation

Advanced and surgical treatments

Angioplasty opens a blood vessel by stretching it from the inside, thereby improving blood flow inside it. Stenting includes placing a tiny tube into an artery or blood vessel to hold the structure open. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment can enhance the healing process for wounds and other issues by increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood stream.
