[Finance & Commerce, March 04, 2020]   Two construction projects expected to cost $199 million on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus in Minneapolis are anything but the end of building at one of the city’s oldest hospitals. Hospital officials met last week with Phillips neighborhood residents to fill them in on the upcoming work on the campus , which takes up four city blocks at the northeast corner of Chicago Avenue and 28th Street East.

The emergency department’s drop-off area is about 100 feet from the desk, which can be an arduous journey for ailing visitors, said Choy Leow, director of design for Minneapolis-based Allina.

The birth center project offers a sliver of hope that the health care construction sector may be recovering somewhat from the recession.

[Twin Cities Business, April 19, 2011]   Allina Hospitals & Clinics has started work on a project that has been on its radar for about 10 years—a consolidated central medical laboratory. Construction began in March on the new $29 million lab for Allina Medical Laboratories , which will house 400 employees who are currently spread out among 12 labs located in five different buildings on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus.

[Finance & Commerce, April 15, 2011]   As of next February, a former Sears warehouse in south Minneapolis will be home to one of the largest and most advanced medical labs in the Midwest. Two weeks ago, Allina Hospitals and Clinics quietly began construction of a 75,500-square-foot lab in the old warehouse.

[Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, April 11, 2011]   Allina Hospitals & Clinics will break ground in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday for the J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice , a 12-bed facility that the medical clinic says will help alleviate a shortage of hospice beds in the Twin Cities. The $5 million hospice will be located next to the Allina Medical Clinic .

[Finance & Commerce, April 23, 2010]   Abbott Northwestern Center for Outpatient Care has hired St. Louis Park-based RJM Construction to take on a $1.5 million expansion and remodeling project for the medical facility. The construction project will include 16 new exam rooms as part of the Edina center’s 4,700-square-foot expansion and a 1,400-square-foot remodeling of the facility’s main floor imaging center.
