The Regina Hospital Birth Center opened up the Regina Milk Depot in February. Talks about getting a milk depot at Regina began in October after staff at the hospital heard that the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies was looking for hospitals to get on board.

A local physical therapist from Regina Hospital recently spent a week in Chiclayo, Peru, distributing wheelchairs to people in need. Anna Mangan was part of a team of mechanics, therapists, support staff and seamstresses who served 208 people in the last week of October.

After 37 years of service in the Hastings community, Allina Health Regina Hospital general surgeon John Carlson retired July 21. Throughout his decades long career, he has completed around 16,000 surgeries; sometimes he would complete two or three surgeries in one day.

For more than 30 years, the underground tunnel connecting the hospital to Regina Medical Center has featured a brightly painted tunnel with a "Rollercoaster through the Seasons" theme. This month, an addition was made to the mural creating a new look with the theme "Happenings throughout Hastings."
In 1986, more than 240 Girl Scouts painted the first mural as part of a Visiting Artist program, according to a Hastings Star Gazette article that year.

Allina Health is placing restrictions on visitors to its hospitals, after state health officials declared influenza widespread in Minnesota. Beginning Wednesday, children under age 5 and sick people will not be allowed to visit hospitalized patients.
