The atmosphere quickly turned sour when seven minutes into the game Sleepy Eye’s Brandon Polesky didn’t get up after making a tackle.

[Mankato Free Press, October 08, 2012]   A federal grant of $204,275 for a new project to help improve the overall health of residents in Brown County (Minnesota) has been awarded to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation . Brown County Public Health will work with organizers of the successful “Hearts Beat Back: The Heart of New Ulm Project" to create policies, systems and an environment that promotes healthy lifestyles that will lead to the prevention of chronic disease.

[New Ulm Journal, January 01, 0001]   Making people "joyful" and excited about healthy activities was the focus of Saturday's speech by U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin during the New Ulm Area Day of Play held at Martin Luther College. The Day of Play event is part of a world-wide event started by the children's channel Nickelodeon to get kids outside and away from televisions through fun activities.

[New Ulm Journal, August 26, 2012]   The New Ulm Medical Center is planning a massive overhaul of its birth center to create new, expansive facilities for taking care of families during births. The $1.2 million dollar project will restructure NUMC's existing four-room space to six rooms.

[Sleepy Eye Herald-Dispatch, November 23, 2011]   New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) opened the doors to their new Cancer Center recently, allowing patients their first opportunity to begin treatment at the new facility. Besides the updated facility, the new center is also bringing an expanded partnership with the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute.

[KEYC-TV, April 06, 2011]   Allina Hospitals & Clinics' Heart of New Ulm project is already showing results. KEYC-TV in Mankato reports that the heart attack rate in the southern Minnesota community has already been cut by 24 percent.
