First Friday of every February is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about women's heart health

[KSTP-TV News, February 03, 2023] As part of American Heart Month, the first Friday of February is observed as National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about women and heart health.

Women are more likely to die after their first heart attack than men, yet less than half of all women know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women. Heart disease is regularly undetected, misdiagnosed and undertreated in women. Retu Saxena, MD, cardiologist with Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute, talked with KSTP-TV News about women and heart disease.
