Bikes on Allina lawn to go to kids

[Faribault Daily News, October 23, 2011] The east lawn of Allina Medical Clinic-Faribault symbolized lots of vacant garage space from Faribault residents on Saturday. The lawn was engulfed in bikes. Comfort bikes, touring bikes, mountain bikes and pink bikes. Some with training wheels and water bottles, others with built in horns and even one with a license plate.

Allina Medical Clinic’s first Free Bikes 4 Kidz donation held in Faribault certainly seemed like a successful one. Proof of the success was in the grass next to a tent set up by five local Allina workers. By about 2 p.m., Faribault’s site already had 87 bikes donated. “I think we’ve done better than what they expected us to do,” said Allina volunteer coordinator Cassie Braun.
