Sen. Franken tours Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids

[KSTP, June 01, 2011] Minnesota U.S. Senator Al Franken visited Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn. to learn about the efforts to improve mental health care and discuss accountable care organizations.

Sen. Franken met with Tom O’Connor, president of Mercy Hospital, Lori Wightman, president of Unity Hospital, Paul Goering, M.D., vice president of Allina Mental Health Services and other hospital leaders.

Sen. Franken said he was pleased to see Allina working to create a system in which the quality of care given under Medicare improves but the costs decreases.
