River Falls Area Hospital recognized as a 2020 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (March 5, 2020) — River Falls Area Hospital, a part of Allina Health, today announced it has once again been named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Regarded as one of the industry’s most significant designations of performance excellence, the annual Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics.

"This honor recognizes the dedication to quality and safety by all of the dedicated caregivers and staff at our hospital. That is not something that happens by accident. All of us are committed to providing our community with the best possible care," said Helen Strike, River Falls Area Hospital President. "Making this list of the top 100 Critical Access Hospital is a significant achievement as there are about 1350 Critical Assess Hospitals in the country. This is a well-deserved honor that belongs to all of the dedicated River Falls Area Hospital team members."

Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all Critical Access Hospitals nationally. Now in its 10th year, the INDEX leverages 50 rural-relevant indicators across eight pillars of hospital strength (i.e. Inpatient Market Share, Outpatient Market Chare, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspective and Financial Stability) to determine an overall score for each hospital. Each of the INDEX’s 50 indicators is culled from publicly-available data sources.

“The Top 100 Critical Access Hospital award program reminds us that rural providers haven’t lost touch with their mission and are committed to delivering better quality, better outcomes and better patient satisfaction,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “In an era of increased complexity and uncertainty, Top 100 hospitals have established themselves as a bellwether for rural provider performance and River Falls Area Hospital is to be congratulated for earning this honor.”
