New Ulm Medical Center welcomes new mental health provider

NEW ULM, Minn. 1/30/2019  New Ulm Medical Center is proud to announce that Kelly Jarcho, APRN, has joined the hospital staff as a mental health counselor. She will care for both inpatients and outpatients at the hospital.

Jarcho received both her Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica. She is board certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Jarcho says she found her passion for mental health early in her career while working for the State of Minnesota with the State Operated Forensic Services in St. Peter which provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment to individuals involved with the legal system due to a crime.

“It was there that I fell more in love with mental health," Jarcho said. "The things that the patients had to overcome inspired me and I loved seeing them progress. I decided I wanted to be even more involved in that process and I decided to go back to get my masters."

Jarcho says her professional interests include treating thought disorders, mood disorders, medication management, holistic approaches to mental health, crisis psychiatry, side effect management, legal issues in psychiatry, and stabilization.

"I enjoy talking and getting to know my patients. Most patients feel comfortable with my style and feel I am easily approachable," Jarcho said.

Jarcho is married and has two children ages 4 and 7. She says her family enjoys visiting family in northern Minnesota and travel to Florida.
