FARIBAULT, Minn. 4/16/2019 — District One Hospital has been re-designated as a Level IV trauma hospital by the Minnesota Statewide Trauma System at the Minnesota Department of Health. This designation verifies that District Hospital has the expertise and resources to provide quality care to trauma patients. Specialty physicians, nurses and others are standing by 24 hours a day to provide some of the area's top trauma care.
"For a seriously injured person, the time between sustaining an injury and receiving appropriate care can be the difference between life and death," said District One Hospital president David Albrecht. "Our team is honored to continue to offer our community's access to life-saving trauma care for critically injured patients. Minnesota's trauma system is a network of hospitals and ambulance services organized and coordinated to optimize the care provided to seriously injured people by ensuring that injured people are cared for at a hospital with resources that are matched with the injured persons' needs.
As a level IV trauma center, the District One Hospital Emergency Department offers resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill and injured patients. Hospitals voluntarily participate in the trauma system by attaining designation as a Level I, II, III or IV trauma hospital. Designation levels reflect the resource capabilities of the respective hospital.
