Allina Health River Falls Specialty Clinic welcomes two new providers

RIVER FALLS, Wis. 5/14/2019  A general surgeon specializing in surgical oncology and a podiatrist are the newest additions to Allina Health's River Falls Specialty Clinic. Shelby Hyllengren, DPM, podiatrist, focuses on foot and ankle surgery, and Justin Baker, MD, surgical oncologist, provides a wide range of general surgical services and cancer-related surgeries. Both providers bring new services to the River Falls community, expanding access to specialty healthcare services and helping patients keep their care local.

Dr. Hyllengren specializes in foot and ankle surgery with professional interests in forefoot and rearfoot reconstructive surgery, arthroscopy, foot and ankle trauma, diabetic wound care and limb salvage, sports medicine and arthritic conditions.

"I enjoy helping patients to understand their foot problems and to develop a treatment plan together," says Hyllengren. "I recommend checking your feet daily for cuts, blisters, scratches, redness or swelling. Catching these problems early can help prevent more serious complications later."

Hyllengren received her medical degree from the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and is board-certified in podiatry.

Dr. Justin Baker is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in surgical oncology. His professional interests include breast cancer, colon cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, liver cancer, melanoma, rectal cancer, sarcoma, skin cancer and surgical management of solid tumors.

"The best part of my work is the relationships that I develop while working with patients during their cancer journey or health care experience," says Baker. "I believe in listening to my patients with compassion and working with them to identify the best option for their cancer or surgical treatment. I also utilize a multidisciplinary approach to health care and cancer care, incorporating other providers and specialties into a patient's care."

Baker received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota - School of Medicine and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
