HASTINGS, Minn. 8/16/2018 — Regina Hospital, part of Allina Health, has once again been designated an acute stroke ready hospital by the State of Minnesota.
“As an acute stroke-ready hospital, we have a certified stroke neurologist ready to evaluate you day and night. We can complete your brain scans, with access to both computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), right here in Hastings,” said Justin Pattee, MD, a critical care specialist with Regina Hospital in Hastings and United Hospital in Saint Paul. “It also means we can administer life-saving medication faster with nurses and emergency room physicians trained in the identification and rapid treatment of stroke.”
Nearly one in three Minnesota residents who experience stroke first receive care at a small, rural hospital. In addition, more than one-third of Minnesotans live more than 60 minutes away from a Primary Stroke Center, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
