OWATONNA, Minn. 10/23/2018  Allina Health is pleased to announce Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota has agreed to include Owatonna Hospital in its Medicare Advantage plans for residents in Steele, Waseca, Dodge and many other southern Minnesota counties for 2019. People enrolled in Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plans in these counties accessing services at Owatonna Hospital will now be considered In-Network and will not incur substantially increased out-of-pocket costs.

Blue Cross patients who have an emergency medical condition can also come to the Owatonna Hospital Emergency Department and services will be covered as In-Network, and inpatient hospitalization or follow-up services will be covered as part of their full plan benefit.

“This is good news for Owatonna Hospital and the communities we serve,” said Dave Albrecht, president, Owatonna Hospital. “It’s important we provide convenient, whole person care within Owatonna and the surrounding communities, and not force our patients to travel more than 30 miles to receive the exceptional care we can provide close to home.”

Owatonna Hospital and Mayo Clinic Health System in Owatonna have partnered for many years to build an excellent medical delivery system for the residents of Steele and surrounding counties. Our In-Network status with Blue Cross Blue Shield and its Medicare Advantage product will allow us to continue the great work we do for our patients.

Owatonna Hospital and Allina Health also accept Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement/Medigap plans, and Medicare Advantage plans offered by Humana, Medica and UCare. If you have questions, please call the free Medicare insurance helpline at 1-866-255-4620
