Free workshop to learn about managing falls and increasing activity levels to start April 10

OWATONNA, Minn. 2/20/2018  Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute — Owatonna Hospital is offering a free program designed to help older adults manage falls and increase activity levels.

“A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls” includes eight, two-hour sessions for a small group led by a trained facilitator. This class is especially helpful for those concerned about falls, interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, who’ve fallen in the past or who’ve restricted activities because of falling concerns.

Participants will learn to:
• view falls as controllable
• set goals for increasing activity
• make changes to reduce fall risks at home
• exercise to increase strength and balance.

Classes are held Tuesday and Friday each week for four weeks, beginning April 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at Owatonna Hospital, 2250 NW 26th Street in Owatonna.

Instructors include: Greg Lenz, physical therapist and Heather Lenz, physical therapist, both from Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute — Owatonna Hospital.
