FARIBAULT, Minn. 8/21/2018 — The Honoring Choices Advance Care Planning program will host several upcoming, free community events this fall to help people join the conversation and make informed health care decisions for the future.
A community film screening of the PBS/Frontline film Being Mortal features Dr. Atul Gawande as he explores what matters most to patients and families experiencing serious illness and how to have a conversation about end-of-life wishes. After the film, stay for a guided discussion to help you develop your own action plan to clarify and communicate your end-of-life wishes. This free film screening and discussion will be offered in Faribault on Oct. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Village Theater, 20 2nd Street in Faribault. It will also be offered in Owatonna on Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the Owatonna Arts Center, 540 West Hills Circle in Owatonna. Light refreshments will be served.
Do you have experiences, fears, stories, or thoughts to share about death? Faribault’s first Death Café will be offered on Nov. 1 from 6:30-8pm in the Depot Bar & Grill’s West Room, 311 Heritage Pl in Faribault. Join us for an informal discussion about death and dying with no agenda. This event will be hosted by Honoring Choices Advance Care Planning Program for Faribault & Owatonna and Critical Next Step. Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
