Emergency Care Consultants to staff District One Hospital Emergency Department

FARIBAULT, Minn. 9/18/2018  District One Hospital welcomes Emergency Care Consultants (ECC) to our Emergency Department (ED), effective Sept. 1. ECC provides professional staffing in our ED, including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer exceptional emergency care to Faribault and surrounding communities,” says Dave Albrecht, president, District One Hospital. “ECC has an incredible reputation and is a leading employer of emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice providers in the Twin Cities.”

ECC has a rich history and provides professional staffing for other Allina Health emergency departments.

“It’s important—ECC’s values are aligned with ours,” says Albrecht. “We know they will take great care of our patients, keeping safety first-and-foremost but also embracing innovation and the importance of new services and technology.”

At Allina Health, ECC provides professional staffing to: Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis; United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.; Regina Hospital in Hastings, Minn.; River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls, Wisc.; and WestHealth Outpatient Center in Plymouth, Minn.

“We have a strong history of providing highly specialized medical care at large hospitals in metropolitan areas,” says Tom Horejsi, MD, District One Hospital Emergency Department medical director. “We also have an equally strong tradition of providing quality care to community hospitals, and we’re excited to be able to bring these two ideals together.”

Horejsi adds that a strength ECC provides is working with complex and acute conditions. “Our providers bring a ton of experience, having seen many complex medical cases and providing a lot of complex care.”

Another strength ECC provides is the familiarity and expertise in navigating an Allina Health patient’s electronic medical record (EMR). “We are all on the same EMR, and this really allows for seamless care and a great patient experience. Should a patient need more complex care at another facility, we’re also able to smoothly coordinate care elsewhere.”

Tom Horejsi, MD, began serving as the medical director to District One Hospital’s ED in July 2018.
