ST. PAUL, Minn. 11/20/2018 — The Allina Health Emergency Medical Services has endowed a scholarship at Century College, White Bear Lake, to be awarded annually to a student in the school's paramedic program. The $1000 scholarship will be prorated between the fall and spring semesters.
"Century College is a valuable source of paramedics we employ at Allina Health EMS and we are proud to endow this scholarship that will every year encourage a deserving student on to a rewarding career in emergency medical service," said Brian LaCroix, President, Allina Health EMS.
LaCroix noted that the EMS industry in Minnesota and across the nation, is suffering from a shortage of paramedics and this scholarship is one way to help young adults to consider a career in EMS.
"It has been our goal for years to endow a scholarship to benefit our EMS paramedic students, but until Allina Health EMS stepped up we had never been able to do that," said Chris Caulkins, program director, Century College EMS program. "For their generosity, we owe Allina Health a debt of gratitude."
